What did you specifically hate about the Adventures? Over the years I've read several negative posts about them, but I've never had a real issue. I do moderate Jeep roads in CO with them in the summer, and they only see patches of pavement for 4-5 months a year - snow. We don't really deal with mud or roots like you would in NC so maybe thtat's it???
I like them as they are acceptable for many tasks: interstate (quite), snow, moderate Jeep trails, dirt roads...
Exactly. I feel like the people who complain most about them never took them off road. I’ve aired them down to 18 psi and followed Rubicons up rocky Allegheny trails in Pennsylvania. I was somewhat limited by my ground clearance (which led to my investment in rock sliders and a belly plate), but not at all by the tires.
When I had a chance to pick up very low mileage Duratracs from a Trek Defender who was up-sizing, I took it. But I had no complaints from the Adventures.
To be fair, I never tested them in deep mud or slickrock. But the eastern trails are brutal on tires, and the Adventures did fine.

275/55/20 BFG K02's. Zero rubbing. Even with the hydraulics all the way down there was no rubbing. I'm driving a 2023 Defender 130 X Dynamic. I hope this helps.
I can make a strong recommendation for the new Nitto Terra Grappler G3s. I have 2023 Defender 110 V8 and I LOVE these tires. No rubbing. 285/45R22. They are super quiet (as quiet or better than the stock Conti street tires), ride better than the Contis and look awesome. Have a buddy who put them on his G-Wagon and has the same rave reviews.

So I finally got delivery of a set of Urban WX-4 20" wheels. I put them on Goodyear Duratrac RT 275/55/20 tires (the suggested size by Urban that claims they will fit) and they weren't close to fitting. Serious rubbing even in off road height. I put 1" lucky rhino lift rods on and still rubbing in off road height! I even took mud flaps off and they still rub. WTF? The Goodyear website says the Duratrac RT 275/55/20 are 31.89" outside diameter. I can't find my tape measure to measure the tires myself but I will and report back. 2023 Defender 110 V8.
Update: Measured with tape measure and tires are ~32.4inches at 50psi. Deflated to 34/37 and still, even with 1 inch lift rods, there is rubbing on the front and back wheel liners in the front wheel wells in standard air suspension height (no doubt rub more in access height). The only thing I can think of is the wheel offset, which is +30 for the Urban WX-4 rims versus +41 for the OEM rims. Can a 10mm wheel offset make such a big difference that a tire size that would normally fit (as documented by people here) won't fit even with 1 inch lift rods? Urban themselves recommend 275/55/20 tires for these rims so what am I missing??

I'm assuming it rubs in a hard turn. While the rim will stick out 11 mm farther, the tire will stick out 21 mm farther as compared to stock. That's a full inch and another 1/4" due to the larger diameter so when turning it will put the outside edge of the tire against the liner. This site will give you a chance to play with tire/wheel options. https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/
Was doing some more investigating because something just didn't seem right, it shouldn't be rubbing that much for that tire size and wheel offset with a 1 inch lift.
I went and climbed under the car to shine a light behind the rims to see if the installer had mistakenly put the +15 offset in the front (the front tires just seemed to be sticking out more than they should...). Indeed, the +30 offset are in the back wheels. When you buy a set of 5 rims Urban gives you 2 front and 3 rears. Wouldn't most installers put the more positive offset in the front?...Anyway, I'm calling them tomorrow to have them swap and I'll report back how it changes things.
