I’m starting to think I’m better off leaving mine permanently not working.

So I'm thinking we haven't figured this out yet eh?

I spent 5 hours last weekend tearing out my jump seats, spare tool kit. Every single back panel except the driver side D rear pillar and I think it's in there. I cant find the capacitor anywhere. T

opinion shows around the drivers side trunk but I couldn't find it.

I know that the LR4 and Discovery had a separate stop-start battery you could disconnect or just not replace once it died. However, I read somewhere that the mild hybrid battery on the P400 supports the stop-start system. P300 owners may have a chance of finding a separate battery.

I just hope my stop-start system never wakes up. I was concerned a recent software update could change that but it continues to not work at all. Glad I waited to order a 2021 to get this non-functioning feature.

600 miles and no auto start/stop. Not even once. Ironic because I don't mind having that feature.

Something I noticed on my wife's XF is that if you have a real soft touch on the brake pedal, the engine doesn't stop. If you push a little harder, it stops. Also if the A/C is running, it doesn't stop. The light pedal force seems to work on the 110, but you have to be real light. I don't think the A/C trick works, I haven't run the A/C yet, not very warm yet, except to see if the auto start is disabled. Once it the temperature warms up, Ill check it.

Here’s the diagram. I think it’s behind the drivers side tail light....

We have two 2021 P400 110's and neither has the stop-start activated for some reason. They are different production dates, (bought two months apart) and each has a different software version, the latest purchase came with the March software update. The icon on the dash display shows stop start as off, but the button is not illuminated on either vehicle. Tach shows about 600-650 rpm at stop, so we absolutely know it's not working.

I permanently disconnected stop-start on my 2016 Jaguar XF-S simply by removing a wire from the battery in the trunk. I don't see this option on the Defenders however. I am happy with leaving this alone and hope it never self-actuates!

Default Same Issue — No Stop/Start in Defender

Ya guys, count me in on this oddity. I’m in the camp that prefers not to have stop/start, and wish a disablement was remembered between drives. That said, I’m in a 2021 Defender 90 P400 and I have the slash across the A on my cluster too. Only 400ish miles, but never a stop start yet. I’m glad I found these posts because I thought it strange that the user manual says that stop start is set on unless you opt out each time. I have the latest firmware / software update also.

I’m with you guys on auto start/stop not working. I have a 2020 defender 5000 miles. Suddenly stopped couple days ago. Have the slash on auto start icon too but nothing happens. Was perfectly fine past couple weeks. Seems like this is happening to quite a few people.

Understand most owners wants this removed but for me knowing something not working on the vehicle really annoys me since it’s such a new car😂
