It could also be temperature related. As it gets warmer around here (SoCal), my system will usually work earlier in the morning when it's still cool outside, but stop operating as my AC kicks in and stays on more consistently - once ambient temperature reaches 80 degrees and up, give or take. Same could happen if you have your seat warmers / coolers, defroster or other high draw devices on in the car.

I am honestly kind of surprised to hear about all these issues, mine has worked quite seamlessly since having a few "teething" problem during the first two weeks of ownership. I don't mind it at all and, when it does work (with the above exceptions), it is quite smooth as well.

Understand most owners wants this removed but for me knowing something not working on the vehicle really annoys me since it’s such a new car😂
Hahaha right?!

They want to keep it for 48hrs for a “deep dive diagnostic”. I don’t care much for auto on/off so will let it be for now. Unless someone on the forum foresees a potential disaster by letting it be that I may be overlooking? They have no explanation how it got through quality check at LR or the dealer PDI in this condition.
To me,that means your battery is not fully charging and probably defective. The same thing happened to my VW Atlas. They shipped it without an AGM battery and it died so they had to replace it. Auto start/stop has been working "fine" ever since. New Defender on order...4/17/21 was order date.

The icon on the dash display shows stop start as off, but the button is not illuminated on either vehicle. Tach shows about 600-650 rpm at stop, so we absolutely know it's not working.

I permanently disconnected stop-start on my 2016 Jaguar XF-S simply by removing a wire from the battery in the trunk. I don't see this option on the Defenders however. I am happy with leaving this alone and hope it never self-actuates!

I have a 2020 Jeep rubi and I disabled the as/s by removing one of the 2 hood sensors.
It would be nice if there was a quick fix for the defender.... I’m finally ordering mine tomorrow hence me lurking here this evening!

Captured the attached Special Service Message 75349 on Topix, PCM software calibration issue that affects MY21s. Your dealer should be able to patch the software.

No thank you Umberto. I'm going to enjoy this non-functioning feature for as long as possible.

The auto start/stop also isn't working on my new 2021 D90 P400 after 300 miles. Is the general consensus now that no harm is being done to the vehicle? Or should I be scheduling an appointment with my dealership?

When this happened to my VW Atlas, it was the beginning of the battery dying. When my 110 gets here in August, the first thing I'm going to do is charge the battery. Get and AGM battery charger and charge it. Shedlock on YouTube recommended charging the battery when the vehicle arrives too.

Charged batteries on both our new Defenders and neither has the auto stop-start working and it has not since day one. I like it not working as I disconnected it in my Jaguar.

Man, I sure hope mine doesn't work when it arrives.
