I too have the non-functioning Auto Stop/Start on my 2021 P400 Defender. I don't miss it at all but I don't have the fans working to cool the turbo after shutoff like I do with my BMW. Are we suppose to have a turbo cool down feature like someone described earlier in the thread? For you guys that don't have the auto start/stop functioning do you have fans running to cool the engine/turbo after shutdown?

I also see on my Incontrol app that the car is in "low power mode" and is asleep and the remote functions will not work even though I just drove it so I think all of this has something to do with what the voltage the car thinks it has. Maybe that's what the ECU flash corrects. I don't want to shorten the life of the turbo if fans, etc are suppose to be running but like most of you, I hate the auto stop/start so if that is all that I'm missing good riddance!

Ford, and GM cut out the start stop, and frankly, on the Defender MHEV it has no impact on performance. Many Defenders start-stop system don't activate anyway (we have two 2021's) and neither has ever had the feature activate in 6 and 4 months of ownership respectively. Start-stop is a gimmick to "increase fuel mileage" and deactivation is always available to drivers. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/i...oduction-nitra Jaguar Land Rover Testing Changes On Models To Counter Chip Shortage Problem

Neither of those articles mention any specific technology or feature that is being cut.

That screenshot article that I put up does cite the call and comments from the CFO regarding component substitutions, feature deletions, and a potential price increase (unclear if it's for the entire vehicle range, certain trims, or specific features).

Unfortunately, from there, the writer launches into pure conjecture by implying "GM dropped these features so let's all just be lazy and assume LR will do the same".

Emails to LR dealers from corporate in the last couple of weeks have mentioned other tech but nothing about start/stop being an issue.

How do you tell if the fans are running? Just listen for a fan noise after shutdown? 5k miles on mine without a single Auto Start/stop. I don’t notice any fans running after shutdown but will pay more attention after the next drive. Does anyone have a video showing what it should sound like?

My app says “vehicle asleep” but only after not driving for 3 whole days. I haven’t encounter the “low power mode”

has anyone noticed performance improvement after auto on/off was fixed? Or is it confirmed auto on/off does not affect performance?

Maybe it's just me, but I have no idea if it is going on or off. It is so damn quiet and smooth, I'm not sure I could tell. With the hybrid launch, it gives it "time" for the engine to crank up and start taking over. I had another vehicle which had the auto on/off ages ago and it was like a golf cart starting up: mash pedal, pause, fling forward due to too much pedal trying to engage it. This beast, I can never tell when the hybrid starts, when the engine kicks in, etc. I turn on the tunes and don't feel/hear/sense anything. Maybe that's because it has never shut off! But once or twice I did notice something "different", maybe a very slight delay and thought - maybe that was it.

Those who have experienced the auto off, how did you know? Do I need to have the radio off and the windows open to hear fan noise?

My auto stop start starting working on our 21 90X after the latest over the air update. It surprised me.the re start is not at all smooth. I have to remember to turn if off now. Not a fan. And it will shut off even with the shifter in sport and the air set at 68 degrees Fahrenheit

Oof. Do you remember what version you upgraded to? I’m on 2.10 now and still no stop/start, thank the gods.

A lot of hate here. Take a deep breath. But please don’t let it out, it’s better for the planet.

yesterday at a stop light the engine shutoff as it normally would do. the bad part, it didn't fire back up. i had to scramble to cycle the car fully while a long line of cars behind me at the light honked and must have thought i was an idiot. so, i now have less faith in the system on the 110. never had that experience in any other vehicle with auto start/stop.
I've had the same issue....the truck actually shuts down!!!! Very dangerous! I took it in for service and they said it was fixed....not true...I was towing my boat in upstate NY and stopped for a red light....Truck shut off completely ...then I went into the scramble of restart while traffic backed up. I'm returning for 'service' but in the meantime I push the auto-stop button and hope for the best.

Mine is working after the last software update as well. My restart is smoother since I have the P400 with hybrid. But I still hate this feature. After a week of it working I automatically push the start button followed by the start-stop off button. Funny how quickly it becomes an automatic sequence. Same thing with our Honda Passport. Honda placed the start-stop off button with the shift buttons. I automatically press the start button, start-stop off button then reverse button to back out of the garage.

To disable the start stop function there is a small black connector attached to the negative terminal of the battery. Unplug this and leave hanging. Start stop will not turn on.

I have done this on my 2020 Defender and 2020 Range Rover Sport and so far after a year no issues. The dealer does once in a while reconnect when I take it in for service though
