A pillar problem - what is the state of the art?
I just finished a 2,000+ mile road trip. The newest A-pillar fix is solid. I did hear some rattles during the trip, but ultimately isolated them to stuff in the glove box (easy fix) or an empty Red Bull can (another easy fix).
Thanks to JLR for finally putting this one to bed!

Thanks for reporting back, is there a service bulletin / recall ID of some sort noted on the paperwork? I may finally be ready to bring this issue to their attention at my next visit to the dealership.
That and the self-cracking windshields. Oh, and the buggy infotainment. Otherwise, about average reliability.
Well, here we go again. No photo attached as it is exactly what I shared earlier in this thread.
I did a bit of a test yesterday, holding down the cover as I commuted at high speed - 75 mph. My arm was quite sore by the time I arrived, as the load really is substantial. I honestly cannot believe any responsible person would design such a load to be carried solely by two strips of double-sided tape. -- with no metal to metal fastening at the top (at least). Not sensible. Design malpractice IMO
I am taking a bit of time in the coming couple of weeks to contemplate next steps .... Enjoy !!!

Google "JLRTB02058NAS1 TECHNICAL BULLETIN" I have attached the 38 page PDF instructions.

@TrioLRowner - Bummer to hear this but -- the windshield molding carrier (the plastic "Bracket" underneath the actual visible A-pillar) is held on by 5 clips, 2 strips of double sided tape AND PU adhesive (think windshield)
No adhesive on mine. The 5 clips have the smallest of teeth -- just holds the assembly from sliding up the pillar under load.
Once any air gets under the outer cover, its just the tape and the bolt at the bottom holding it all down. Or so it seems to me.
Enjoy !!

I'm taking the "see no evil, hear no evil" approach and not exploring it further. It looks good, is quiet, and has now survived > 2,000 miles, much at over 70 mph.
I dodged another bullet this morning -- picked up a nice big windshield rock during the trip, and was able to safely have get the chip plugged

An update ....
I met with my dealer and shared in detail the technical details of their failure to use the tube of polymer goop, in addition to the tape and the clips. They agreed to try again and we arranged a time and they gave it a go.
Unfortunately, they were not successful. They were able to attach the outer cover to the inner mounting piece, but did not feel confident that the inner one would hold (even though my inspection of the part at the end of day appeared that it was undamaged).
So, they decided to order a new inner piece, so they could mount it fresh.
So, another month or so of having an unadorned pillar.
Enjoy !!
