Default Pivi 4.4.0, DAF, and tangible changes since 4.3.4?

DAF, as in Directed Attention Fatigue. For months, I was ignoring the invitation to upgrade, only to have someone else do it without asking me. Oh well, thought I, I could live with it...

...and the first thing I noticed is that they changed the way cameras work on proximity detection, which is now making really inconvenient for me to enter the garage. It's not different, it's *worse* (displayed image is smaller, and the camera shuts off prematurely so that I don't see if my rear is in the garage or hanging out).

How's the DAF related, you're probably thinking? Well... I'm hoping that some of the changes are configurable (though not holding my breath), and hoping that someone noticed them to the point they can list them and save others hours of walking down the sluggish menus... and possibly discourage or encourage others to finally upgrade - or not.

Let that camera bit be my first contribution. I'm hoping to find other things soon enough but won't have time until mid next week, that <censored> move was really untimely, uncalled for, and avoidable.

So, what else changed that matters to you?

I'm not following too well on this topic (just one cup of coffee so far this morning)... I have Pivi version 4.4.1 installed as of a few months ago and I have not seen any difference in my cameras. I have a MY25 110, so maybe I do not have the new DAF on mine.

Having to deal with lots of different software, I'm getting incredibly frustrated with "updates" each of which breaks people's muscle memory and destroys usable features. I used to follow some of them (Android in particular) closely spending some quality time to see all the new details - but these "updates" now are like a few phrases changed in a 300 page book, so at some point I just gave up and said "f it, it is what it is, I'll deal with it when it comes to it". Of course, I'm missing "new features", but they are lately are mostly just fluff (do I really care about animated emojis?) and rarely something revolutionary.

MY25.5 here, and the difference is stark. It used to be that the top down view was turning on along with the trouble spot display and it took all the screen, now it's a smallish window on the left. It used to stay for a long time once activated, now it's gone once I cleared the trouble spot.

I mentioned this earlier - proximity detection on this vehicle is (or at least was) the worst out of all vehicles I had to drive for extended periods of time, it tries (tried?) to sense the intent instead of telling me where I'm about to bump into things - and got it wrong 99% of the time. I'm yet to figure out whether they fixed or changed that, but what I also know is that yesterday I bumped the column behind me for the first time since I owned the vehicle (over a year now) without an audible warning, thankfully, with a spare and not with the body.

I can relate to the backup warnings - the sensors do not seem to take into account the spare tire. I almost smacked a pole backing up, thinking the sensor would alarm as I got close, but it didn't account for the spare tire, I stopped just in time before hitting the pole with the spare tire, never getting a warning.
