Question about parts not being available on new Defenders
April 28th build date. There have been several things that I couldn’t order, but I’m still excited for the truck. Unless it’s missing something major, like rear seats, i plan on taking delivery. For you guys who are dropping $100k, I understand your frustration. As someone else stated, I am a little worried about resale. But I also know I’ll be bent over a barrel anyways since it’s a Land Rover.
I was just talking about going the "Build your own" section of the LR website and choosing the exterior/interior colors as well as all the options, saving the build and then giving that build pdf to the sales rep. I think the same thing you did just minus doing it with the sales rep. I think if it's not an option (Interactive Display) they should take it out of the configure process. But this whole wait and see business is a little nerve racking. I guess at the end of the day, the truck is exciting regardless of the analog verse digital dials but I am spending some hard earned money on this baby and I could go to the dealer and just find one on lot, sure, but I'm choosing to be patient and order the exact defender I want.
I have been waiting to order a Defender D250 HT for close to 2 years now. As I will be keeping this for at least 10 years - I will not compromise on my “must have” items: IDD, smart view mirror, jump seat, matrix LED headlights and 11,4 inch screen.
These 5 items has been going in and out of the list of LR “constraints” for the past 18-24 months. Latest dealer update from last week was that all options are now available - except for the Interactive Driver Display (IDD).
I am now waiting for a MY2024 build to see if I can actually get the car I want. LR have pulled the current price list from their local web site - claiming the MY2024 pricing is just a few weeks away.

Could you find a used one with all the options that you want?
Maybe one with minimal mileage (and the snags ironed out by the first owner!)
Prices for used ones have come down, certainly in the U.K. unless you want a Commercial. and are now below list in some cases.

I am looking out for a used one every day 😉 And yes; I am looking for at commercial hard-top as a daily driver / marketing post for my small outdoor business. There are a few used ones listed - but prices are similar to new ones - and most of them are lacking my “must have” items as they are mostly MY23 and MY23,5..
Find yourself an 2021/early 2022 and modify if needed the few missing items.
Who knows what they do with 2024 model. It's almost naked already now.
This is exactly what I did. Found an early 2022 D90 that has absolutely everything I would have wanted. It was certified so basically brought the warranty back to close to 4 years. And what's really sad is that I felt more comfortable driving it back home than I would have been driving a brand new one back with unknown issues. Never bought pre-owned before but so far so good... Fingers crossed.
With perfect hindsight vision I definitely should have ordered an early MY22 HT. However; I am quite sure that a ~18 months wait for a car that would be nowhere near the spec I ordered would have killed my love for the LR brand. I am looking out for decently spec’ed used car as well.
I bet a 130 Carpathian edition comes with IDD.
Now you know why it is a zero cost option to update from analogue to IDD. They don't owe any of us refunds...
