Its sensors in the bumper on RRS and another model according to marketing material.

I noticed that too after I took delivery. The **** that's fitted now is not very ergonomic, but with that said it's a use once and forget, so I'm not really mad about it.
This is from the NCAP Safety press release for the Defender: Clear Exit Monitor – Helps warn of a possible threat when preparing to open any door from the inside using sensors in the bumper to monitor approaching traffic.
Not sure if it utilizes the same sensors as the blind spot detection in the mirrors, or if it's different.

Well that's unfortunate. Add it to the list of items known and now unknown missing from my 110 X model. I'm not sure this would be something heavy utilized as someone mentioned earlier, but it's still disappointing knowing X and V8 models should have all the bells and whistles.

I never saw that as a feature in the build tool nor anywhere, nor is it mentioned in the manual I got. Granted, I have an SE, but even if you look at the web the SE and X Dynamic/X doesn't mention it.

That said I'm curious where you're getting the info that it was ever an option?

I believe it was a standard feature across all trim levels. My MY23 110S has them.

Who'd've thought buying an MY22 would become such a unicorn.

After exiting their vehicles safely, having secured their sunglasses in overhead receptacles and with a full electrical charge on a myriad of in-car USB devices, 2022 S drivers meet some 2023.5 X owners...... circa 2023
