Hello, new to the LR club as of Nov 2025. I bought a 2022 110 X and on Nov 21st, was prompted with update 4.3.1. I was previously on 4.1.0 dated April 2025, from the previous owner. I tried to accept the update but it failed the installation with an insufficient battery charge error. Several attempts later, including extended driving and an overnight charge on a Noco Genius charger, the update just would not install. The dealer ended up replacing the battery under warranty (just shy of 4 years and 48,000km). Once they replaced the battery, I was informed that the car was then able to update itself. I received the car back and the screen showed that I got 4.1.0 (seemingly again), but with a new date of 10 December 2025. They could not force the update, and reported that the car updated by itself once the battery was replaced. So, a couple of questions for the experts/veterans:
1) Is it odd that I was presented with 4.3.1 when I was only on 4.1.0 prior? I thought I read that the updates need to be incremental and could not be skipped ahead.
2) What is the cadence for the queue to come around again with the next installment, and when might the car catch up to the current release based on that cadence?

In my experience having owned a 2020 110 X for 4 years, I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s not “on demand” like Mac OS or Tesla.
It’s all phased out by JLR according to unpublished criteria. FYI -- they had to stop all software updates for the entire 3rd quarter into the 4th quarter 2025 because of their cyberattack, which screwed up timing.
Eventually you’ll catch up. And yes, it will go to the newest one. Mine has definitely SKIPPED updates and gone from one to a newer one and it’s fine. (ie back int he day I definitely skipped one of the 3.x updates that everyone else got, which annoyed me vaguely.
But what the newest one your L663 is eligible for is related to the market you’re in, variant you have and 15 other (nonsensical completely undocumented) criterion.
In other words there is no way to exercise control over the updates. You just wait and they happen. (and address issues like the battery failing that last update, which you’ve done).
My current version is 4.2.1. Last updated 12/21/24, so I am now more than a year without an update.
The system says that I am ‘up to date’
I’ve tried all kinds of variants to trigger an update (locked car, solid WiFi connectivity, on/off of a trickle charger, long drives with cellular connectivity, etc). Hopefully something will come soon. Sounds like some better reversing lights and improved CarPlay experiences await.
Just a quick update - A notification popped up offering 4.3.1 yesterday while driving. I accepted, and proceeded to give the car a wash while locked and updating. Within an hour, I was updated from 4.1.0 (which I received seemingly in repeat, back on Dec 10) to 4.3.1 (yesterday, Jan 16).
As nashvegas mentioned, versions can indeed be skipped. That said, I now wonder why I didn't receive an even newer version such as 4.3.4?
