I was just at my dealer yesterday contemplating trading my 2023 110S on a 2026 110S on the floor that doesn't have a factory hitch. They quoted me $2900 to install the hitch, harness, etc.

I would completely make it part of the deal, rather than a “I’ll pay you to install it after I pay you to buy that car”.

BTW.

Oh heavens yes! I was just adding the data point for the cost to have a dealer add one after the fact.

And I would never have one added to a brand new car at my dealer anyway. Have your brand new car taken apart and put back together, broken fastener clips, tiny scratches, etc.? No thanks. I might feel differently about a car I'd owned a few years and had some miles on.

BTW.
Also, being the paperwork, it'll be fully included in the factory warranty. Mine is being done that way as a "we owe you" line item as opposed to a separate installation transaction.

While I can understand your concerns, I am pretty sure I'd be able to do the job myself with no broken parts or scratches. Plus, I'll probably be putting on an aftermarket bumper regardless.
