I'm with Yetix. I never did any build threads for my discos not sure why and the classic is too ugly for folks to care about and progress is super slow haha
Hey, if all our build topics do is increase popcorn sales...at least that something...lol. Maybe we should be asking Orville Redenbacker for sponsorship monies?
But all joking aside. More or less, l do these build threads to maybe inspire someone else into getting creative with their LR. If it inspires one person, that's one more person. It might not happen today or while my build's in progress...maybe a year from now...who knows? When l first came here, it was to gain just general knowledge about Dll's...then l found the build section...and l believe l read every topic, every page, of every build. Model didn't matter, gained plenty of ideas from folks building range rovers and whatnot.

my build thread has spanned a decade I think slow progress is ok😂
Tinkering away on small details today, canopy deployment by myself (there is something to be said about reading directions beforehand, helped immensely...lol), more blackout material added inside, just waiting for rear door material now, and a handy shovel...for when the previous nights dinner is not sitting to well in your innards and you have no time to waste.
lt has the "Duke" seal of approval rating also!
It's only 12:30...and l'm ready to switch to an adult beverage.
Getting close to "go time" so that will have to wait.

Also, l have to give my wife credit for the interior work, like cooking, sewing is out of my scope of knowledge. She has ordered everything and fitted each panel...and those magnet hooks that are holding them in place, each one is rated at a hundred pounds strength...and they aren't lying. It takes everything l have to get them off to make adjustments. I've driven down the road with windows down and they stay put.
Funny story...wife bought a bunch of meals in a pouch/bag. She says...all you have to do is boil water, pour it into the bag and wait ten minutes, can you do that? I'm like...yeah, it sounds about the same as making coffee...minus the coffee.
Worked on comand control central, mounted GPS/InReach Satelite phone. Have to tidy up some of the wiring, just been holding off until everything was mounted.
Just a lot of last miunte preparation. Phone is linked to Garmin, (but not at the moment) much bigger screen.
Yeah, for a guy that had a flip phone and a pile of maps a couple weeks ago...now, l have a "stupid" phone, linked to a GPS/InReach Garmin, with a Sirius app for music (which for some reason l can't get it to connect with radio, even with aux cable), and multiple mapping apps.
Well, two weeks ago today l was saying goodbye to my fellow coworkers...and retiring... tonight...after 13 days on the road...l'm relaxing in Alaska. The trip has been epic!
Couple pictures...
The greatest part of this trip has been...the other overlanders. Met a gentlemen from Germany (also driving a defender and stuck in traffic, accident scene), super interesting guy from South Africa, folks from Sudan, Somila, Moszambque, India and USA and Canada. Not a bad one in the bunch. One lady l was visiting with, also stuck at accident, said she has driven the Alaska Hwy several times, hiked countless trails, etc...very cool and knowledgeable.
Besides the german 2016 defender driver, l've past three other defender 110's, all older ones like mine. Unfortunately, all we could do was wave or thumbs up. I believe the german gentlemen had driven 14000 mile since having his vehicle shipped to the US.
Anyhow, it's been great.
