That was much worse than I imagined, not lick’n stick a few patches and call it. Lay’s tater chips. Tough I know but wise call. You’d left half the frame on the trail, one twist and snap, crackle, pop.
Yeah IC, l'd always known a frame repair was going to happen. The short one that just goes to the rear shock mounts. They make a longer one, goes a foot or so in front of rear shock mounts...but that job goes a little deeper and it's more costly. So, after tapping on the rest of the frame, mid-section, and poking hole after hole and finding the rocker panels condition...it became obvious that this rover wasn't in the cards. Granted, me and it had never really seen eye-to-eye on how we were going to live together in harmony...lol.
Richard, l'm going to give this Dll infatuation one more go. My wife is not to keen on the idea of me tackling the white 04 and turning it into a baja machine, but she has given me the "if that's what you want to do" premission slip. But, before l do that...l'm going to drop an engine in it, drive it for a few months and see how l feel about it. It's kind of a shame to turn it into a trail rover...when it's like new...top and bottom. My wife really likes it stock...plus...she's like..."you have two wax and drive cars, so l should be able to have two rovers." I'm like...she may have a point...lol.
