Well This stuff is white. Maybe a good replacement for that little flat gasket thing, between the head and block

dropped in the rhoads bleed down lifters. interested to know if these actually do anything.
5/16 chrome molly push rods. I had to clearance the passage a bit.
installed my yella terra roller rocker assemblies. this I am excited about because less friction always makes more power. still have to adjust them

so to sum up to this point, I will highlight the (hopefully) performance upgrades.
top hats- no performance there, just reliability
crower cam 53231. direct from crower
crower 68405 dual springs
heads port and polish
slightly over size valves. 41.4 int./35.5 ex. (these are a sbc standard size)
hd push rods
bleed down lifters
roller rockers

almost there. anyone want to set the over/under for horsepower gains? I better see something

rhoads anti pump-up lifter are usually use with a somewhat radical cam, so you can don't have to worry about valve-train float they are help you maintain vacuum need for accessory.
But the last set i put in was in HS in 1977 they may have change since then, btw those lifters are still in an engine being used now.

I see you went with roller rockers why? doesnt the ECU have like a 5800 rev limiter? or was it just for noise?

Noise and friction reduction on rockers. Friction reduction being the main goal.

I have rod envy.

You gonna do a parts list when your done or is it like a secret recipe? I thought you were going to eliminate the rocker shafts?

yes i will do a complete price and part list.
i originally planned to do stud mounts, but after research i had a change of heart. the stud mounting allows for the use of any sbc roller rocker and is super cheap in comparison to the yella terra.
my problem was with the oiling through the push rod. while it is a great technique and very efficient..... with the spring rates and changes, i wanted the strength of a solid push rod more. so I coughed up the cash for the only shaft mount roller rockers that are made for these.

Anything you'd change or do differently ? Do you really feel the 800 bucks for the rockers are worth any gains?

i wish i had done a 5.2 crank and double timing chain. chain set was out of stock and i didn't want to bend over for $omeones bigger crank so i made this a 4.6 build.
i really wanted to reduce friction as it is a hp eater. that price does seem crazy, but i started this process with the mind set of "doing everything i could to squeeze more power outta this 4.6". i wish i felt more comfortable with the hollow oiling and stud mounts. that would have been under $300. also, i have dumped some other hp parasites. I have electric fan and water pump.

actually none of this may be "worth" it. it all depends on the gain. the bottom line is definitely worth it considering i will have a complete spare/additional 4.6 engine, at around 5k. of course, this is only true if it actually works and works well.....i will be singing a different tune if i have a rod sticking out the hood, next month.
