While picking my daughter up from her dance class last night I had the lower rad hose let go and loose my coolant while driving through town. Pulled over right away, saw some idiot (ME) never pushed the hose clamp up onto the thermostat. I can’t believe it has help for this long. Anyway I crawled underneath, drinking and bathing in coolant and fixed it up in a parking lot. Bought a jug of water from the nearby convenience store and filled/bled it to go.
my 9yr old daughter said she had never seen me so mad before. Lol

Oh man, glad it was a simple fix. I've had a few of those angry moments in the last few months from little dumb stuff working on cars as well, definitely not a good feeling lol

Been there done that, have a drawer full of t-shirts . How about turning the engine off while the transmission fill plug is out that was a huge freaking mess in the driveway.

I am still on the fence about a Detroit or a selectable locker. I kind of like the thought of no air lines to worry about with a Detroit but have heard that if you break an axle shaft you can destroy the Detroit.

Yes. If you go Detroit in the rear, at least get brand new axle shafts but preferably new chromoly. I made the mistrake of putting in a Detroit with the old axle shafts and busted both at the same time. I replaced it with chromoly shafts and a TruTrac that has been bullet-proof for about 8 years now. The Truetrac does require better driving and occasionaly brake-pedal torque balancing. With the Detroit, I could just go forward. It was better for boulders and axle twisters but for everything else I like the Truetracs better. Air and e-lockers let you choose, but if you're like me you might be bothered to come to realize that it's been more than a year since you engaged the locker driving to the mall.

I pulled my roof rack off today, planning on selling it to build a different one or redo this one. My kids are upset. Lol. My daughter says I won’t be the cool dad anymore and my oldest son says the truck looks naked.
I'm really loving the new motor. It’s so much more fun to drive. I definitely get on it way more than I should. My mpg has dropped quite a bit. Lol,pay to play I guess.
Im hearing a bit of a howl coming up to speed, I’m not sure if it’s the tires or maybe a bearing. I need to do a tire rotation and check everything out.

Yep, grandson liked it when l picked him up from school. You're in line with all of these "run-of-the-mill-carbon-copy" vehicles...and then along pulls up me to the door...lol. Even the principle commented..."nice land rover, not to many kids get picked up in one like this". Grandson would be smiling from ear to ear.

Well I put her up on my brothers hoist yesterday, the bearings seemed fine, I rotated the tires, fixed an annoying coolant leak on the bottom of the thermostat, replaced the hose clamp, checked around the rear suspension as I hear a clunk sometimes when backing out of my driveway and go over a bump, everything seemed tight..... I’ll just keep checking it every now and then I guess, not really sure what it could be. I did just swap the rear axle so I’m assuming it’s my mistake somewhere.
