Ill source the bolts for the coils if I can find them. 8 total, 4 for each coil. Right now I have 3 bolts for each coil.
This is the strap I use. Works fine and is longer than the Rover one.

The coil pack mounts to the bracket with 3 screws per pack. You'll see on the 4th hole that there aren't any threads on it.

Can't say if its the ground strap, but mine was torn so I replaced it with

Couldn't hurt to tighten it as Abran says, but I'd also unscrew it, and wire brush/clean the mating surfaces

Okay if it is there and tight you don't need another one.dirt should affect it unless it is under the connections.

Is it actually attached to the head?

Another wiring issue occurred to me. I wonder if your injectors harness ground wires are attached they are bright green. Mine exit the back of the upper intake and I bolt them to the coil bolts you are missing two could bolts if memory serves.

Could you elaborate on that please? I don't remember ever seeing anything bolted to the coils, not any ground wire or anything. As it stands the coil pack assembly is bolted to the block via 2 bolts and 2 connectors, one on either sude of the coil pack assembly.

Questions:

1) There is a hole on bottom end of my coil pack bracket. I think it has a short plastic screw or some kind of fastener inserted. I never paid much attention to it. What is it for? Is something suppose to attach to it?

2) The long metal pipe thats situated behind the upper intake, above the coils (presumably part of the SAI system) has to holes in the middle. Lioks like its suppose to be secured to something. I took it how and put it back the way I found it. Either end of the metal pipe is connected to the SAI system via short rubber hoses.

1. I believe the fuel line clips into that. The fastener is likely snapped.. mine was - i can't tell from your photo. You can order a replacement from roversnorth or lrdirect.com

2. That bolts into the upper intake manifold

Sorry to hear your wires and coils didn't do the trick. Maybe I missed it, but did you do the plugs too?

Also, l know you mentioned pulling the engine to inspect the tone ring for the crank sensor...but...you could just remove the oil pan instead. It's still a lot of work...but nowhere near as bad as removing the engine...especially, to find out it's okay. Now, if it is bad, at least you will be pulling the engine with confidence.

Brian.
