I have to remove the rear bumper to gain access to the gas door solinoid — it go pushed in at some point. Sooo.. nothing to hold the gas door closed

Do I have to have the truck running to top off the tranny fluid or not? I’m guessing.. yes.

Fixed the horrid wind noise from the right side today -- all 3 of the push in plastic rivet things on the windshield cowl were gone. Bumpy trail must have broken them Went to Napa, got replacements and replaced the lost 3 and the drivers side pins.. Win!

For transmission fluid = engine running. The fuel door solenoid is accessible from inside the D2. Remove the little vent looking plastic plate on the passenger side rear trim, then you’ll see an outer vent/grill assembly. It comes out & then you’ll see two 8 or 10mm nuts. Remove them and the electrical connector & it will drop out. Junk yards are a good place to get that part or from Abran or Paul on here. Installation can be tricky lining up the metal rod, but with a steady hand it’s not so bad. Shouldn’t have to touch the rear bumper to get to it.

Thanks for the tips, did both items today! The solenoid was still bolted and attached, the pin just got pushed in at some point some how I ended up pulling the bin trim to gain access to everything -- figured out why it was such a mess back there as well. The rubber flaps on that vent were basically gone, gotta pick one up from the JY at some point.

Bought a set of 16" wheels ( i think these are the Mirages?) for $50 off of CL. Not sure what i'm going to do with them, but i figure for the cost might as well have an extra set for.. whatever

Added about a 1/2 a bottle of lucas tranny fluid / conditioner (with the truck running of course!) wasn't to bad of a job although i did knock my arm on the stupid exhaust pipe and got a little burn.. Oh well. Caught about a cup of fluid that dribbled out, fluid in there doesn't look terrible so i'm glad i'm not feeling pressured to change out the fluid/filter and deal with the stripped drain plug at this time.

Been kinda having a voltage issue lately -- things seem to be low. UG was showing a low of 11.x volts and a high of mid 12's.. Soooo its gotta be the alternator because it is a brand new battery, only a few months old. Read a few old threads, one of which mentioned cleaning all the grounds. Did that this AM, and it made a difference for sure! Saw low 14's when i went for a quick drive today, so hopefully problem solved.

I have an extra alternator so not really concerned if this one is in fact dying

Also went to the junkyard yesterday and got some bits i needed such as drivers door seal and that vent flapper thing that is pictured above.

Just gotta do the headliner and finish up refinishing the bull bar and things should be finished for the most part

Going on a road trip to Montana on Monday -- kinda nervous but excited at the same time. I feel MagPie is running well, but i still have a little apprehension about doing a 1kish road trip. Doing some camping and checking out potential places to live
