Hi All,
it appears that there are not many electrical specialists out there...and I can understand why !!!

I have recently put a radio in my Defender and since then I have had these problems-
1.the main beam flaser doesn't flash.Doesn't even click as normal...?
2. the heated rear and front screen doesn't work.
3. The rear work lamp fails to function.
....I have a feeling it might be an Earth preblem but I can't seem to find anything un-conected etc....Help please.......?

all Ive done is try to put the radio in and change the dash bulbs to LED bulbs !?
I've recently put better bulbs in the head lights too ..?

 

You may have disturbed earth (or ground ) header C0550. It handled the radio ground, the one for turn signal flasher, the enable relays for front/rear screen heaters, etc. Every wire leading to it is black. Has about 10 wires into that connector.

The black wire from the radio would have gone to it.

A 2002 manual can be found on line at http://www.idc-online.com/technical_...t_Diagrams.pdf with color wiring drawings.

Found one location, similar year, it is on the firewall, see attached pix.

as soon as I get a minute I'm off in the garage to get this sorted...
Who would have thought all those things not working just cos of an earthing point !?
