1000mi drive
We've done just over 2000 miles with no issue... Like others have said, fluids, belt and jumper cables... I carry extra hoses as well (I've needed them). My biggest asset however has been the 5 gallon Jerry can up on the rack. I've encountered gas stations that were too far apart for my comfort level in the Disco.
Depends on where your trip takes you. I had a Chevy van that lost a belt, which ripped a rad hose. Little town on the interstate 70 miles from Savannah. Took that little garage three days to get the parts. Small shops may not have the parts, or room on their open account to order more, etc. Vehicles that have mods, like in line thermostat, would be wise to carry their own set of replacement hoses. Hoses, belts, you'll buy them eventually anyway. So some in a care package just makes Murphy's Law look for other things. Like Crank Shaft Position sensor.
