Hello All, I have the same problem, apparently failed fuel pump for 98 Disco. I looked up the Airtex E3270 as suggested and their system says it won't fit a Disco 1. Are you sure I can order that? The top section of my pump seems fine- two multi-wire plugs and slip on fuel lines.- Geoff

I'm going to buy the Airtex E3270 Electric Fuel Pump off of Amazon.

Amazon.com: Airtex E3270 Electric Fuel Pump: Automotive Amazon.com: Airtex E3270 Electric Fuel Pump: Automotive

It looks like it comes with some extras. Is this all I need? Do I need to buy anything else like the fuel pump locking ring?

What is the required fuel pressure PSI for a Disco 1? Mine is running at 32 PSI. I just want to keep up the preventive maintenance kick I've been on and change shyt out before it fails.

34.8 - 37.7 psi. (2.4 - 2.6 bar) in the manual. Shoot for a pump that does 40+psi and all is golden, just sends more back to the tank is all. Usually at the Schrader a pump doing 40+ will be almost spot on to book value.......

Take a look at the pumps pickup screen and the inline filter on the frame rail. I'd say they're causing the small pressure loss. Pumps are brush wear causing loss of rpms. I'd say it's your decision on replace or keep on the pump. What's your oil pressure?

No clue on OP but did do compression checks at rebuild and all were within acceptable limits. Don't recall numbers but they're written down somewhere and probably on one of my posts. Don't think I'm running low pressure as my light goes off almost immediately after start up (3-5 seconds on cold days) but I could always use higher OP. Been meaning to add a OP gauge. Will tackle that after I finish welding up my roof rack basket.
