I know prices have changed since my purchase but I think the master back then was around $150 with free two day shipping.
Thanks Paul. I bought a master cylinder off of eBay and it didn't work--pedal went down to the floor and my heart along with it! Scared me to death.

So I guess I am gunshy now about buying life-critical engine parts online now...

Hello, Just out of curiosity, All the air was bleed out of the brakes ? Mine did the same thing from time to time, Had air trapped in the lines. My GF at the time over heated the brakes comming down a mountain to fix it LOL problem went away after they cooled off for a while. Not recommended but ....... After bleed the brakes, I found a ton of air in there.

Do I need some sort of scanner to give me more codes or is this a bypass way to figure out which one is bad without needing the ABS scanner?

This maybe what your looking for.

Thats link to read ABS codes. you can find the post here: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...e-light-33892/

It talks about jumping a paper clip or wire from pin 5 and 15 on the ODBII connector under your steering wheel, and setting your key into position #2 heres a pin layout.

I have the code :2-6 Stop light switch

I have read that is is the switch behind the brake peddle. It controls the brake lights and shifting out of park.

My brake lights work great and I can shift with not hesitation.

Any one have any answers for me ?

Thanks in advance !

Thanks, yes after my original master cylinder was put back on the brakes were bled and now my brake pedal doesn't seem to go to the floor every now and then anymore. But I still have the brake fluid leak problem, so I will still have to at least change some seals or gaskets or something connected to the master cylinder so I won't keep losing brake fluid

Also, can anyone recommend a good rebuild kit for the master cylinder on my truck? What all will I need to rebuild it? It is leaking and loses pressure maybe 2 or 3 times per month, although since I have had it bled it hasn't been acting up lately pressure-wise but still leaking..

Thanks!
Try doing option B fix on the shuttle valve switch. The ABS system will throw all kinds of codes if you have a bad connection in shuttle valves. The fix is simple, doesn’t take long, and just might clear your issues. All of mine went away after the fix, and never came back.

Wow, talk about tales from the crypt. This thread is almost four years old AND the post that resurrected it seems to be offering advice for a DII repair, not a DI.

If you horn doesn't work, or cruise, and the SRS light is on, you may need a rotary coupler (or clockspring) that goes under the steering wheel. The wiring for all that stuff goes through the coupling.
