Our '96 Disco 1 has had the airbag/SRS light on ever since I got an alignment. I removed the "clock spring" that tested badly for one of the circuits. Obtained a used replacement that tested fine. Installed it and the SRS light is still on. When I installed the replacement part, I saw an electric plug that doesn't seem to go anywhere. I don't remember unplugging this connection and so wonder if it is for something not on our vehicle.
There are two plugs that are connected (one is wrapped in grey foam for some reason) and a 3 amp fuse, but the 3rd plug has me baffled.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Unfortunately, my OBD reader doesn't read airbag or ABS codes, so I'm a bit in the dark. Could you give me an idea of some of the issues other than the "clockspring"? Thanks.

turn steering wheel all the way to the drivers side, leave in that position and turn off the truck
Thanks for the suggestion Friday Night Disco, but the SRS light is still on after following your instructions (I left the battery disconnected for an hour). Permit me to pick your brain even more...are there any other suggestions you could supply?
Here's a picture of the "extra" plug that I couldn't find a mate for. Of course, this is a Disco ! (1996) - obviously much earlier than your model.
