Default Anti Lock light intermittent

I understand there are 4 anti lock sensors, one at each wheel. My "anti lock" light goes on intermittently. When it is ON, the brakes are consistently fine. When it is OFF, it will occasionally fail to stop well, bounce/vibration at the pedal with a definitely noise (funny, sounds like a old garage door spring).

Mechanic said one of the sensors is bad and has to basically replace all. No can do $$. Can the sensors be disconnected one at a time to diagnose which one is bad? Any ideas??

Appreciate any help!

Come to the dark side. Pull the fuse and the dash bulb and forget about it.

Haha! Light doesn't bother me, it's the intermittent issues at the pedal. So with he fuse pulled, pedal should operate normally?

If you pull the underhood fuse for ABS it just disables it and your brakes operate like a normal non-abs system.
