Greetings...

Not sure if it's the problem, but it seems to be leaking at the thermostat housing. We've ordered a new thermostat and gasket. Hopefully it's just the gasket that blew out. We're still awaiting the gasket.

Not a problem I've ever encountered before. 1st time for everything. Hopefully this fixes it.

Had a similar issue, ended up being the expansion tank. Only leaked when it got warm. I was told to replace it with a clear tank (white plastic), not the black tank as they seemed to fail more often. The cap that goes on the tank has the pressure relief just like a radiator cap but it doesn't look the same.

Greetings...

No hoses are actually leaking. Wasted a day looking for a hose.
Only suspicious thing now is the Thermostat housing gasket.
Hopefully that's it. The thermostat, and the gasket.

Typically if it's a thermostat, the engine temp would show a rapid rise.
Weird.

Chewy, I have a bad feeling about this....

Greetings...

More Weirdness. Interesting possibility: It's now looking like the top hose going to the thermostat may simply have become "unclamped" the clamp holding the hose slipping off the metal. There appears to be "clean" steam-washed points on the hose connection, and the body of the thermostat where the steamy coolant would have sprayed.

Once we get this figured out, maybe I can finally replace my ragged "Official Jeep Recovery Vehicle" sticker...

Still doesn't explain why it didn't over-heat on the way home. I would expect any kind of a pressure loss would result in over-heating. It was still dripping coolant the next morning. Which is why I was thinking hose to begin with. I have to keep in mind that it is a Land Rover. The OTHER shoe WILL drop!

Hoses do wear out, maybe it has become too soft internally and won't hold a clamp. or the clamp has become worn out and can't hold tightness?? I would look into replacing both to be sure. Nothing wrong with a good pressure test to be safe.

Greetings...

Looks like it was just the thermostat seal! Thankfully!

I can see replacing all the hoses next just to avoid headaches in the coming winter...

Thanks Guys for all your suggestions! You've all been a great help! Hopefully I'll get a camera for Xmas so I can post pictures!
