Alright, measure the old booster rod and I hate to say but you'll be measuring the new one as well. Pick a spot on the boosters that is the same on both to measure from. I'll bet if you omit the spacer from the new one they both measure the same length.....

Two plungers in the upper right of the pic. One is the cruise cancel, the upper one is the brake light switch.

Here is how it looks with the brake pedal pressed down.

Like most things Rover you may need to get creative and use some sort of shim/spacer for the plunger to make contact, I've seen it done before.

Not sure it might be a optical illusion but your switch looks like the plunger extends further than mine does. ( I removed the other switch to get a clearer pic) That is the plunger at full extension.

Yeah that doesn't look like it's adjusted properly. Gently pull that red collar until it "pops", adjust the plunger out, pop the red collar back into the locked position again.

Ok, pulled it out till it "popped" and tried to adjust the plunger 3 times with no success. Was pissed and thought I would try it one more time. Pulled the red collar and it "really popped" so much so that I thought I had broken the switch but the plunger moved. Brake lights now go off !!!! Success !!!!!

Thank you everyone for you input and assistance !!!

Funny how sometimes something so simple can throw things off.
