Default Can someone tell me what this part is?

Well I screwed up. I was changing the transfer case oil in a 97 Disco and damaged this hose. Just turning the ratchet while rubbing against the hose took out a large chunk of it. I guess the rubber from 97 is pretty brittle. Does anyone know what this hose goes to? And a part number?

Isn't that the cable that actuates the parking brake drum?

Is it just rubber that surrounds the cable? It's ok to leave as is? Btw, what tool do you guys use to remove the fill plug? I used my 1/2" ratchet, but that happened. I tried a 3/8" with 1/2" adapter, 1/2" w extension, 1/2" w swivel fitting, nothing seemed to fit well in that spot.

Just to show where the parts ends:

The fill plug was empty, I had issues with clearance. The extensions made both ratchets too long to fit, and the 1/2" ratchet would barely fit along side the part that connects to the rear drive shaft. The tip would not fit entirely into the fill plug, it was at a slight angle. I guess I need a skinnier ratchet.

When I say extension, I mean a long one to get past the parking brake drum, is the plug clear of mudd

I don't use any extension. I use a 1/2" breaker bar or ratchet till it's loose, then my fingers.
