CannibalV8 - Buyer beware
But I thought I read that they checked the pressure with a gauge and said the sender was faulty. If that was the case I'd want a new sender right then and there because even if it was true I'd want to know if things changed on the way home. But I also might trust the expert. Unknown. I think after reading this thread I wouldn't trust anyone.
I don't know. The whole situation is absurd, based just on what I have read. I hope the OP just ends up with the forever machine he wanted and that we all want. That might make all of this worthwhile. If I'd spent $12k? OMG it would be war. But then, I don't know all of the facts and am not asking. It is just an unfortunate situation all around, but one that I would go way out of my way to avoid. Hopefully when the OP has all of his parts and it is running we will hear from him or Cannibal when it is done. Because it s a SMALL WORLD.

Tom, I'm with you, no way I could recommend them in good conscience.
Update:
The exploration into the bottom end of the engine has uncovered some very alarming details as to the care and attention taken by CannibalV8 during their assembly & inspection process!! The attached photos show:
• Obvious wear/damage to the crank & bearings due to the crank not being machined true.
• Pitting to the bearings reflecting dirt or contamination was present and not cleaned off of the crank or bearing surfaces when the bearings were installed.
• Even though there is only just a bit more than 1000 miles on the engine since the build was complete, there’s obvious scoring damage to the crank & bearings as a result of the metal floating in the engine caused by the low oil pressure.
Steve’s initial response to the photos was, and I quote, “The Alloy Layer on the Mains, are engineered to absorb”, a promise to begin shipping parts on the 16th, followed by insults as to the ability to diagnose or identify damage to an engine towards the shop working on my Disco, and the number of Land Rover Certified specialists they solicited to offer a second opinion, and now another 7 days of silence.

I'd be very interested to see what kind of shape the cam bearings are in as well.
So he is arguing that those bearings aren't shot? He can't be serious? If you google failed rod/main bearing they match every picture that comes up

Don't mean to sound harsh, but if your " Corporate Attorney on Retainer " told you to take a bath like that , I will be worried if he needs to defend your company
I would have gone for full reimbursement or fix it to my expectations, with proof documented of the items replaced plus shipping cost both ways and some Benjamines for pain and suffering

Told u the bearings would be f up, I would tell him ship a equivalent engine and he pays the labor or go to court this engine will give you problems forever as u have no idea the extent of damage from metal particles unless u tear down everything, plus u need to flush oil lines and cooler, this is a nitemare, very expensive one
Your talking metal in the rocker assemblies, metal in the lifters, push rods, can bearings, valve springs seals just everything
Parts will all need full clean or replaced since you don't want that metal particles tearing up new bearings again = nitemare

I'm speechless. The pictures... wow.
The number of people who will plunk several thousand for a top hat engine on a disco is surely small and a large percentage of them are on these forums. This thread already pops up on a Google search.
Speechless. Shocked.
Things can go wrong but the specifics here (thanks to the OP and others for providing details), especially regarding the follow up, are chilling.
I need a new backup plan!

Agreed about the entire engine being suspect now. The rockers in particular as they are softer than the rocker shafts and will now have particles embedded in them that will score and groove any rocker shaft that they are running against. I am shocked that an engine builder that presents himself as a premier source of motors for these trucks isn't going out of his way to make this right. This is a tough situation for you to be put in as I'm sure you just want your truck running again but you have done nothing wrong and should bear no financial responsibility for the repairs. You are owed a new engine and oil cooler, with installation. Period.
