Default Code check time, 1187 & 0451

Getting two codes:
P1187 Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Short Upstream
P0451Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Signal Error Fault

Could these be related, have a common fault? Like a ground or connector?
Also, my code reader is VERY basic. Would a more advanced reader tell me more info to diagnose? Fore example P1186 has the same description. I assume one is for one side and the other for the other side?

Adaptive values were reset because truck was running like crap. I swapped out every damn sensor I could find. Truck runs good now but I'm getting these codes.

They are in no way related. Have you ever replaced your 02's, sounds like it is about time.

What about the code reader? Would a more advanced one distinguish between 1186 and 1187 which have the same basic description?

It should......since it communicates with the ECU separately. The advanced reader will direct you to the bad one by designating it by code;

B1S1 - Bank 1 Sensor 1 (F.driver side)
B1S2 - Bank 1 Sensor 2 (F. passenger side)
B2S1 - Bank 2 Sensor 1 (R. driver side)
B2S2 - Bank 2 Sensor 2 (R. passenger side)

I hope I got that right....
