Default D1 WONT START?Help!

I was on my way to work and turned the truck off to open a gate. When I got back in it cranked up fine. I put it in drive and nothing. The rpms never changed when hitting the gas.I cut it off and tried again and it would not crank. It turns over fine and tries to start but sputters and dies.it has not trown a code so far?Any ideas?

Throttle linkage [lube]? If you had an rpm above zero the alternator is making pulses to drive the tach. If rpm = zero alternator is dead.

Fuel pressure test point is passenger side injection rail , looks like a tire valve, expect 32-34 PSI when fuel pump is running. Pump should run for about 2 seconds when ignition switched to position 2. If the inertia switch has triggered (firewall), push down on top to reset.

If you have spark, that lets the crank shaft position sensor off the hook.

If MAF is unplugged it may start, then die [resist temptation to clean MAF at this point, it must be done when it is stone cold with made for MAF cleaner].

Butterfly valve in throttle really sticking [carb cleaner]?

TPS sensor unplugged [throttle position sensor]?

My money is on the fuel pump. The initial restart was probably just residual fuel in the line. It's not the alt, a truck will start even with a bad alt. Search for Fuel Pump to troubleshoot.

Do you hear the fuel pump for a few seconds when you turn the key to the run position?

Thanks for the replies fella's.On my lunch break I did a pressure test on the fuel rod
and nothing.I have a fuel pump in the mail. After looking at the wire harness it looked a little burnt at one connection.Cleaned it up and plugged it back in and guess what?It runs......I was going to replace the pump anyway so no biggie. What threw me off on this
was the fact that it stayed at a perfect idle when in drive and giving it gas.It made me think it was transmission related. Thanks again .

I'm hoping you found your problem and that she's not going to leave you stranded.....

I've seen a few of these runs one day quits the next things with these trucks..

Mine included...

Yup,me too! It seems that the wire harness is heating up because the pump is slowly
failing and pulling more amps but not enough to blow a fuse.
