Default Disco I 1996 Windshield Wiper Irregularity

The wipers on my Disco I keep getting "stuck" mid wipe. It only happens when it is on the slowest wiping speed. There is nothing there for them to get stuck on and the other speeds work fine.

Is it possible to fix? Suggestions? Thanks.

my 97 does that too on the delay mode, and also won't park when I shut them off at other speeds. I have had too many projects that have a higher priority but I wouldn't mind if someone has done a step by step on removing the wiper motor. Nothing on Youtube about it yet. meantime I found if you push down lightly on the lever, wipers will move until you release them. It gets me by for now.

I've found that 9 times out of 10 this problem is fixed with a new wiper switch (Windshield Wiper And Washer Switch, Front (Same Fit As Genuine Part # STC1790) | Land Rover Switches ) or by cleaning the switch contacts. Do a SEARCH, there is a write-up on how to clean the contacts(it's simple).

I took the wiper motor gearbox apart and found the contact disc had pits from arcing. Filled them with solder and it worked. It wouldn't park nor make a full wipe. YMMV.

This would be my guess as to the problem with my disco.

Its probably more common than folks know, if it happened with mine I know it's not unique. Sometimes it's the switch and sometimes it's the gearbox and sometimes both. Worth a look. I did mine in the summer in good weather, tired of trying to park them out of my view.

Wipers on mine did the same. I cleaned the switch (done it a bunch on Fords) with no difference. During the "rainy" season last year they pretty much stayed in low or high for long stretches at a time. Seemed the more they ran, the better they got. Intermittent works great about 99.72% of the time now.
