Door lock barrel rod problem
I'm unable to lock/unlock the passenger side lock using the key.
I check for any disconnected rod and here's what i found: all was fine EXCEPT:
The U-shaped control rod that runs behind the window track connects the barrel lock to a bellcrank that also connects the electrical actuator and interior door lock together. Ok until now.
When I lock/unlock with the key, the whole U-shape moves up and down. However, from what I see, the part that's behind the window track should not move but pivot for the whole thing to work.
Does anyone know if that's right and what should be holding the rod so it pivots properly and how to fix that...It's not the most accessible place! RAVE does not show these details. The picture shows some kind of holder on the left side of the track. Don't know if it's broken or if the rod has jumped out...will try to push it back in.
The following pictures show the rod in the up and down positions.
Thanks for any hint.

I will tell you from my experience witht he door locks. If you hold up on the lock and the handle opens it, but no other time, it is a little spring in the door mechanism. There is a guy on e-bay that sells them from the UK. I had 2 passenger doors and the rear door that would only open if the lock was held up. YOu could unlock the door, but it would fall right back down...
I see some corrosion in your pics, plus the mechanism looks "loose".
Sorry I cannot be more helpful, I have never had to tear into the doors yet. That is the first time I have seen those linkages.
Did you try Rovers North for parts?

Thanks guys but RAVE is what's what I had been looking at: it shows the linkages but not how the u-shaped rod is held in place.
As to Rovers North, they don't show replacement parts graphics for the door lock. I'll probably give'em a call once I know if anything needs replacement ...

I tried with a curved handle but didn't clip or catch into anything although it does look like it should. The pictures were taken by inserting a small camera in the door. I don't have that kind of view when I work on it so it's pretty much trial and error...
Ok, I wasn't seeing it. Looks like the back part of the rod has popped out of the holder. It should be secured to the back where the arrow is.. may have popped out, or the holder may be busted..
I tried to get it back in but no success. From pictures of online catalogs, I found that this is part of the lock assembly. Next step would be to remove the window frame and get the lock out but I won't get into this now, it's not critical enough (especially with a forecast of 6 in of snow).
Thanks again for everyone's input.
