driving my 97 disco x-country
Use to do a lot of cross country, Lived in North Dakota and once, driving a diesel went though South Dakota, it was 3 am, I could not even pick up an AM station, my fuel gauge was reading almost empty, and there was nothing in sight and it was a sunday (Blue laws where still in effect so everything would be closed)...
I ended up pulling over till the sun came up, and barley made it to the first farm I saw. The farmer filled me up with fuel for his tractor and I was off. But talk about the feeling of crap I'm screwed before that.

well, looks like im switching over to the disco II fourm.
I picked up an 04 today. 80,000 on the clock, but it came from one owner and its in great shape.
the 03 was in the bad vin # range so even after talking to the dealership that did all the maintenance, it didnt sit too well.
Sad to let the 97 go but it had too many problems to deal with. The electrical was a mess. Short in the turn signals, Short somewhere that turned the radio off and on when i shifted in or out of gear, the big issue with the alarm...
So here's to happy trails with my 04.
If I do hit the open road, ill keep in touch. Shipping it is still a possibility, since its pretty much a wash when looking at gas, hotel, etc road.
I know, I know, i coulda bought a new one on the east coast. But i like my California trucks. No salt, no rust, yadda yadda yadda.

Back in the 80's you could pull into someone's yard for help... today you would likely get shot...
haha thats the exact reason i got my disco out here, i'm goin to the midwest and salt rust is a huge problem with older cars out there...
