I agree. It was a hail Mary that did not work. Even though, tick before and tick after. How are the tappets filled with oil?

Ok, I misunderstood, I thought you added the Lucas with the last oil change and then the tick started shortly after.

Oh sure! Break out Wikipedia!

I am just worried that the oil to the failed lifter is blocked. I think I still need to check my oil pressure just in case.

Yeah, it's sounding like a collapsed lifter. With that gunk, could be a blocked passage keeping oil from the lifter. You're going to need lots of tiki torches and scantily clad women for this repair...

See this from shop manual - may provide additional enlightenment if read from the glow of the tiki torches held by the scantily clad women.

COLO: I too chased a "tick" for a few weeks....went the whole route of gaskets, oil, bs additives, flush etc, etc, the problem ended up being a loose insert in a couple of the rocker arms. The r/a is made of alluminum and the conical inserts that contact the push rods are steel..AND they are barely held in the r/a by some sort of staking process. In my case there was no noise with a cold engine but as things warmed up the tick would get louder....to isolate this I had to run the engine with the valve covers off ( NO you wont throw oil everywhere) it's much easier to isolate WHICH rocker(s) is making the noise. I found that 2 or 3 of them had loose inserts, a few new rockers and the tick was gone. I know that this may not be your issue but it sure sounds like mine did....it's worth a look

I have one. I had to buy an adapter to get it to fit. It WILL NOT fit into the OIL Pressure Sending unit at least on the 3.9L. I bought a glow shift oil sandwich adapter, it goes in between the oil filter and engine.

REALLY? How did you get that to work? It goes nice for few turns but doesn't get snug enough to not blow oil like crazy everywhere...-my experience

It is only on the passenger side. Sounds like it is towards the back of the engine.

I would say it is on the passenger side. Make sure, if you replace the tappets, that you do all of them. Do the CAM and pushrods as well. Don't fail like me and do only the tappets, only to 500 miles later have the same tick like you. My engine sounds like yours when yours idles. The noise actually goes away after RPMs are increased. I personally think it would be easier to get a used one, and put that guy in considering mine is at 180XXXMiles Its your decision.

This sounds exactly like my tick. Especially the sounds good until it warms up. I'm gonna check this immediately. Is this the rocker arm you mean:
