how to check my timing???
Hello all, I noticed that my Disco's timing is off. I have a timing light and the rave manual, the only problem is that my rave manual is missing this part. If anyone could help I would be very thankful.
Do you have a distributor? If "NO", each cylinder timing is controlled seperately by the ECU and the knock sensors. If "YES", it is in section 5 of the workshop manual, starts on about page 44, "Engine Tuning Data", tells timing mark locations, various degrees of advance at rpms, etc.
My guess is he checked the timing with the timing light.
What he needs to know is how to loosen the distributer clamp, rotate the dizzy to get the base setting he wants and tighten the clamp back up. Of course one should then ensure that the timing didn't change during the clamp tightening.
