Idle Air Control Valve
#11
Thats what I thought too. But after driving around for 3 days with a 2k rpm idle, I caved and took it to the dealer to reset. Not bad, took 10mins, got charged a full hr, at $125/hr. Rapists.

I *believe* the adaptive memory is hard stored, so if it sits an extended period with no power, the ecu can pick up right where it left off.
But, I did try cutting the power but only for a half hr.

Usually you can trick (force) the ECU into accepting the new IAC.
Turn key on, turn key off, unplug IAC, turn key on, plug in IAC. Repeat until the ECU corrects it's baseline. I have done this to countless vehicles when replacing an IAC and it works, though some are a PITA and require more magic than others.

I think I'll clean that some time next week, that is one sensor I've never cleaned. How delicate is it, will carb cleaner hurt it?

i 've been having prob. w/slight rough idle on "03 l.r. disco, since cleaning maf sensor and throttle body. used your trick of unplugging iac valve, and it worked like a charm-MUCH THANKS to you! also, did i understand correctly, that an intermittent oil light at idle, could be remedied by this trick which makes the ecu correct its baseline?
p.s.--is it possible to clean iac valve? i know it's an elec. motor, but is there part of it which can be sprayed out w/maf sensor cleaner?
again, really appreciate your fix.
