Default A vague step in the instructions

In step three, you said:

“3. On the small plug there are two wires that are black with red/orange stripe.( Solid black and red/orange stripe.) Cut these two wires on the loom side only and twist them together. Leave enough wire in case you have to put them back together again. ( This is an immobilizer fix and not an alarm fix.”

Once these two wires are cut (the “loom side” is the only place to cut them), there are two pairs of ends available to twist. Do you mean to say to twist the wire ends “still attached to the loom” and to leave the pair “still attached to the plug” open?

I set mine up with disconnects that will allow me to do whatever combo I am supposed to try. Because this involves a battery disconnect (complete with extra Disco-specific steps) and a few variables possible with settings on my Hawkeye, I REALLY need to limit how many wrong ways I could be doing this.

For the record: 98 NAS Disco V8 GEMS (no spider), no start, no cranking, just a “click”. Starter tested ok out of vehicle, 12v at the big wire AND solenoid at key position 3.

Losing my freaking mind here.

EDIT: just saw pics. Trying to figure out what you did with ignition/steering column wires. Also need any available specifics on what settings to use on the Hawkeye Total (I have the security dongle).

On another note I do not known if this will help or not. I have got another rover running with this problem. BMW many years ago put part of the security sysetm threw the A/C control head unit in the dash. The a/c went out in another rover and then the next day the truck would not start so I started pulling the radio a/c controls out and found the plug on the back of the a/c control was burnt and cracked and part of the wires had fallin out. The same black and orange wire that I cut on the security box was one of the wires that fell out of the plug. I spliced in the new plug to the old loomp plugged up the a/c and radio then the rover cranked back up and alarm light was gone. Just an Idea I will try some thing diffrent today to help you out but first please send me the conditions your rover is in how it died and what happened to cause and where your at on the fix.

Try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it. I have heard that the ECU can give a no-crank and this may reset it.
