intake gasket replacement
I wish I could remember right or left......to be sure you should try to contact one of the parts suppliers.... but FWIW I had to replace a few of mine because the steel ball end insert was loose and causing the tapping....it would only make noise after the engine had warmed up. Soooooo...maybe get a couple of each. Trevor @ rovahfarm.com at one time had solid steel ones for sale that would have eliminated the issue..let us know what you find
we removed the rockers and the tip is completely gone from that 1 so ordered 1 right side and a coolant cap and full set of hoses, we also did the water pump today while i wait for parts to come from ab, i hope at the end of this I have no more tap and no more oil leaks
well unknown to me the rockers are left right per cylinder not left side of the engine or right side so of corse I had the wrong one come in and had to order a left today guess the last cylinder will have 2 new rockers, got a pick of the bad one just need to post it
here is the pic of the bad rocker next to a new one ANY IDEAS WHY IT WENT BAD? last one in the back on pass side which seems to be the common tap area

No real idea. But I'd take the rocker shafts apart and clean them up.
A brief soak in Purple Power will work wonders, but just not long, 15 min maybe, as it will dissolve aluminum if left in a long time. Don't ask how I know.
If you do clean them be very careful when taking them apart to make sure all pieces go back in the same order and same orientation. Use Lubriplate 105 assembly grease when reassembling.
You can clean the push rods too, but be sure they are reinstalled in the same lifters. Use a dab of lubriplate on both ends.
AB, and others, have Hylomar. I'm sure there's something similar, but I haven't seen anything as thin and reusable like Hylomar is.
I hope you removed the injectors as an assembly. If you removed the injectors from the fuel rail inspect the cups carefully for rust. I've had them where they would never seal again once removed and the fuel rail needed to be replaced.

thanks for the tips, I did not remove the injectors or rail from the intake
i was just going to lube the new parts with 15w-40 oil but i also have some cam instal lube left over from another engine definitly don't want to damage new parts

well the correct rocker came today got it installed and buttoned up the engine, all I can say is wow no more tap no more miss no more pop heard at tail pipe so far no oil leaks and the engine fires right up and has alot more power going down the road
in the end problems I found were:
bad rocker arm
fuel pressure regulator disconnected
oil leaking from intake gasket
valley cover was bulged out bad
cyl # 4 plug wire not snapped onto spark plug just the boot
things we did:
new intake gasket
cleaned out intake and plenum
new valve cover gaskets
cleaned out valve covers
instal 1 new rocker arm
instal new waterpump I had laying around
instal all new coolant hoses
new orings on fuel line connections
instal new coolant overflow pressure cap
alot of these things were done just for preventive maintenance since it was apart, the only thing i did not do that i wanted was flush the heater core but working outside in this cold we just couldn't bring ourselves to drag out the garden hose but my heat works great so guess I can wait till warmer weather
