Heres how i fixed my 99 when the gas pump kept shutting off while trying to fill it up.
Step 1 open hood lol
Step 2 disconnect plastic hoses that connect to the evap canister
Step 3 With gas cap off use compressed air to blow into the line that goes to the gas tank from the evap canister.
Step 4 with both lines disconnected from evap canister blow compressed air into one port of the evap canister and allow it to travel out the other port.

This should clear any debris out of the evap system if that's your issue. Idea cam from this video.

Actually I saw that before I asked in here, but had my doubts. Anyway, I took my Shopvac which also is a blower and used it to suck and blow into any and all places I could as well as the charcoal canister. I went and fueled the Disco the next day, ready for this, not one cut off. Ok, so we'll see from here and I'll post the next fueling.

I guess the trickle valve is the next step. Went to fill (had a little less than half a tank) and it started cutting off the pump again.

well, I gutted my trickle valve about 3 weeks ago and have not had a problem filing the tank. I can hold the gas nozzle wide open, not even a burp.
