Could be the belt tensioner pulley or...... lately there's been a rash of A/C compressor pulley bearings going south including mine. Whatever it is..... FIND IT! If you overheat because the belt gets tossed you could be doing this all over again, it can lead to big trouble and glad you mentioned it. I've lost a tensioner pulley and chunked the belt because I was "not feeling it", not in the mood in the middle of winter to check it out. The engine did overheat like NOW!

Ok will check into that tomorrow, I did let it warm up a little and then moved it back to where I normally parked. Not far and the temp never got above normal. But will check all that out, also will check to make sure there is enough coolant in it. As I added till was full ran for bout 3-5 min then checked again. But will check it, belt, tensioner, and all the sensor connections that deal with temp.

Default The struggle continues lol

So just did a little test after reading a bunch of things. Let the car warm up a bit. Still had the high pitched sound from the pulley area and no warm air. But after driving it for a half mile, in lower gears and around 3k rpm to get the heat up found two things.

1. The air got to it's normal temperature really quick, and engine temp never got above normal.

2. The high pitched noise went away.

However after stopping at the top of my hill the noise came back and the warm air went away at idle. So back to checking and hoping tomorrow. Any thoughts as always are greatly appreciated from my fellow Disco lovers

P.S. Oh about posting more on the forums will try to do so, can't promise but I do think that with everything I have learned both from research and from this whole grand adventure I would love to help anyone who I can.

Default New Info

So I am going to post a link, and in that thread there is a video that in the video is the same exact noise mine is making. So it's sounding like tomorrow will be pulley and tensioner testing. Yay lol.

Quick Update 11/24/15

So it appears there is a leak of coolant at the bottom of the plenum cover where it connects to the tube that holds the MAF. Not sure if maybe I didn't torque the bolts tight enough when replaced the gasket, or maybe a bad hose. Either way gonna check tomorrow and will let ya know how it goes. Not much progress past that due to rain

Are you talking about the throttle body pre heater?

Maybe? Not sure on the name of the part, but this is a picture of it. Could also be one of the hoses that go to it. Least right below it is where I found the anti-freeze atop the valve cover.

Default New Update 11/25/2015

Hello, so went up and worked on it today. Think I found the coolant leak on the water jacket at the bottom of the plenum cover where the MAF housing connects. I think it was due to the hose clamp being positioned wrong. The screw to tighten was pointed down so once the cover was on it was pushing hard against the valve cover and I think creating enough of a gap for a slow drip leak.

Past that checked the belt tension it was WAY too tight. So took the tensioner off and sprayed a little dry silicone into the pulley and onto the part with the spring.. After putting back on and not over tightening (cousin was helping and he over tightens everything lol) Belt is to a good tension, not too tight no too loose.

Lastly found out apparently according to RAVE am supposed to use Loctite 577 in thin uniform bead round the plenum cover. Only issue is no where around sells the stuff lol.

Anyway that's it for now thanks again and have a happy Thanksgiving

Default Update for turkey day :P

So tooled around a little as I was waiting for all the food to cook today and went for a little drive. Have good heat, the whistle noise is gone my cousin said it might have been the plenum having to adjust itself. Dunno but it's gone. And now there is a slight noise coming from either the generator or the tensioner. Not sure which and not sure if it's bearings going bad, or if it's just cause the rig hasn't been really used for quite awhile. Anyway hope you all had a great day and weekend and if ya go to black friday ya get goodies

Default Last Update 12/6/2015

So if anyone is still reading this. Here is a last update.

Everything is running great after replacing the tensioner, and using the Loctite 577. Running smooth and purring like a kitten. Dunno about the MPG change cause haven't filled the tank yet :P.

But once again thank you all so very much for helping and giving your advice and sticking with me. I wish you all the best and if ya ever need anything I can help with feel free to shoot me a message
