The steering wheel sits on a splined shaft. The idea is to pull the steering wheel off the shaft, rotate till straight, and reattach to the shaft.

^ Not hard to do either. Removing the air bag isn't going to cause it to explode in your face, not if you intelligent. Follow the Rave's removal steps. You'd be lucky if it actually deploys in a crash....... supposed to be swapped out with fresh every ten years and I'd be surprised if the SRS system is even working correctly.

Being intimately familiar with the perversity of inanimate objects, I admit to a hesitation about fooling with the air bag. However, I may ultimately address this after the rest of the fix it list is run through. Thanks!

Reading through your thread. I noticed you put the kit was from England. Does this mean the springs are marked for a right hand drive vehicle ? That would mean they should be backwards for a left hand drive. Possible problem there, but I'm just guessing.

Uh no, your guess was not well thought out. The Drivers side and Passenger side even though opposite side to the UK still represent the greatest weight on the Drivers side, lesser weight on Passenger side and would be installed accordingly. It's not just the weight of the Driver either, it's the steering equipment (box, shaft, column, wheel) and pedal assembly plus servo/master cylinder and ABS modulator which I would guess to add at least 80-100lbs to the Driver's side alone.
