I have discovery 1 300tdi auto and i did body swap, Now I can't remember, where to plug a wiring plug.... It's around transission/handbrake/transfer case area, cylindrical shape, and it has black/green and black wire.....
It comes out of the same loom that contains inhibitor switch cable, handbrake cable and difflock light cable.
To me, that looks like a LT230 transfer case high temperature warning lamp sensor connector. I have one in my NAS 1994 V8, but it looks like they did not come on TDI? So it is possible it is vestigial on your truck and was never connected? Attaching photo of where it would go if you have a corresponding switch for it. This view is from the rear of the t-case.
That said, because you have an auto-box I think you should also have a temperature sensor on there and I imagine it is the same sensor/connector. Electrical manual says, "The transmission/transfer box oil temperature warning light is grounded by the Automatic Transmission Oil Temperature Switch (X108) when the temperature of the transmission fluid exceeds 130°C (266°F). The warning light is also grounded by the Transfer Box Oil Temperature Switch (X174) when the temperature of the transfer box fluid exceeds 145°C (266°F)."
So maybe double check you aren't missing the connection on the autobox. If not...as long as your reverse switch works and the diff lock lamp illuminates and your spedo is working...I don't think there is any other sensor to miss back there.
