Just checked with Denny and he said in addition to a shorter belt, we need to swap the tensioner on our D1s to one from a D2.

ok well i got to have the fun of making trips back and forth to find a belt that worked. the first one they gave me was way to long ( it was dayco 7pk1855) the guy at autozone said the part number was old and used it without the 1 in front of 855. but anyway that belt was almost long enough to use with the ac, so i cut the old belt wrapped it around everything and cut it to the length that worked, brought it back to them and they gave me a duralast 683k7 (i think its 68mm or something close ) and it took me awhile to figure out how to get the belt on. but i ended up taking the top bolt off the alternator moved it to the right just enough to get the belt on the power steering ,then prying it back and put the bolt in. the belt is on very tight and the truck runs great and you can feel the extra power from not having the ac.(my butt dyno could feel it )

Did you put in a D2 tensioner? Your alternator bearings are probably bad. Replace them or the whole unit.

no i didn't put a d2 tensioner in, because i'm just bypassing the ac temporarily until i can fix the ac clutch(the pulley wobbles) the disco sits most of the time so i'm not in a huge rush.
