Default Not your typical stuck in park

So I am halfway through an engine swap (engine is off mounts but still connected to tranny), calling myself a novice at mechanics would be highly overrating myself, and I left the truck in park when I started. I have run out of time to complete the project myself and found a mechanic who was willing to pick up and finish the swap. I am having the truck towed to his shop in the morning and cannot get it to go to neutral. All I find when I reference this is info on brake solenoid failures. I dont think this is the issue since there is no power...... What can I do to get it into neutral? Thanks!

Sounds like something is binding preventing you from shifting into neutral.

Is your battery disconnected?

Yes, battery is disconnected. Should I hook it back up?

Isn't there some sort of shift solenoid? Might help.

From RAVE:

Selector Interlock
When the gear selector is in the park position, the
solenoid inside the Transmission Range Selector
Switch (Z110) is de–energised and prevents the
selector from being moved into another gear. To free
the selector, the Ignition Switch (X134) must be in
position II and the brake pedal must be depressed.
When this occurs, voltage from Fuse F1 is applied to
the Transmission Range Selector through the closed
Stop Lamp Switch (X168). The solenoid inside the
Transmission Range Selector Switch is grounded at
E200 through the selector switch, the KS wire and
the B wire. The solenoid now energises, freeing the
selector.

In other words, hook the battery back up, shift into neutral, unhook battery.

OR if you don't want to hook the battery up, and you want to prevent this from ever happening again, such as in the middle of the woods, remove the shiftlock solenoid. It's easy. Just remove the shifter and you'll see it.
