The nylon gained popularity as isolating some engine sound that comes through the metal lines. I've had both, and have equipment with both, they don't leak on my 1978 John Deere 401B and it is certainly not a cushioned vibrartion free ride for any thing. Seems like I saw a pic somewhere of a guy who installed one with nylon under the hood, gauge and all, I guess for that Saturday morning fluid check.....
