You have diodes gone wild. The tach is the alternator, there's a lead just for the tach on the back of the alternator. Water pump is a consumable. Have the alternator rebuilt by a good automotive electrical shop or rebuild it yourself. Do not buy a rebuilt from a parts palace, you'll be replacing it often like once a month. We've seen it many times here on our little slice of the Rover world. I love gremlins, good for target practice.
