First, yours didn't come from changing the brakes, completely coincidental.
Just go with the typical diagnosis, or download the RAVE manuals, read how the system works and trace the wiring.

Alright, so about 4-6 hours later I made it to the solenoid and removed it. Problem solved, my truck works just fine again with the solenoid removed, thank all of you for all the support you gave, have a great day.

Don't forget to be careful. There's nothing stopping you now from throwing it straight from D to R while moving.

Default Same issue every time I change brakes..

Hi there- I know this is a little late from when you posted but I have had the same issue each time I’ve changed my brakes.. first was 2 years ago I did my front and ended up stuck in park for over a month- one day it just fixed itself… now I changed the rear about a month ago and same deal- stuck in park. I go through the usual process, code read, brake light switch, changed some fuses, looked over all electrical, even removed and replaced brakes and rotors. Still no answer. All fluids are full. I can use the emergency lever under the shifter to get in reverse and in a gear- not sure which it is, but it gets me going only in 1 gear tho…. Curious if you had any thoughts?

Can you depress the button on your shifter?
If no:
Take your shifter head apart and ensure the gear lock functionality works and there isnt any trash jammed along the gear lock shaft. Lube the gear lock shaft as well if its stiff.

Jump the third brake light and rear defroster connections on the back door glass. Press the rear defroster switch and shift out of park.

Yeah it’s been a minute! Almost done with my degree and then I’ll have some free time to rebuild my ‘94 D1. Summer can’t come soon enough!
