Plug Fouling 96 D1. All plugs.
Here's my plan of attack.
Going to toss in those injectors. Then limp the truck over to my guy that I have change oil. (It gives me access to a lift) Going to add a quart of kerosene to the oil, and let the truck idle for 5 min or so to warm it up then flush the engine with new oil and filter. Then drop the oil pan completely exchange it for another one I have for the truck. (My current pan's oil plug is crapped out) This will give me a chance to see the lower end and see what kind of mess I'm dealing with as far as gunk.
Then going to refill and maybe add some of that mystery oil and let it do it's thing.
Between the flush and the MMO treatment I would say I have done my best barring a tear down. It's a crap shoot but cheap and should tell me something.
If the truck starts running right, I'll then tear it down again and try and see why that valley pan seems to have not sealed correctly and redo it.
Have you checked the temp sensor yet? If that sensor it bad it WILL cause the ECM to run a Rich air:fuel mix. leading to O2 codes, fouled plugs, crap running... This is way too simple not to at least check all your temp sensors.
no I haven't. I can't seem to find my meter. I'll look around for it today.
I agree with Cosmic. It isn't your internals unless this thing is clacking really bad.. Something is making the ECU overfuel. At least try unplugging all of the temp sensors, but they are super easy to check. Set the meter to OHMS and measure across the 2 terminals...
yeah i would check those temps as well sir..just to be on a safe side..plus its easy..honestly your about to spend thousands if you are doing the swap...and when you do..youll need a meter anyways..go down to harbor freight and get a cheapie and test the connections just to be on the safe side
I hate to poop on your cornflakes, but I will bet it will still run the same. You have a sensor somewhere goofing things up.
I will get the values of my sensors when you want to do yours for reference..
