Default Power Steering Gear Box gone to leakin'

So a while back I did a "little" engine work and while I was at it I replaced the power steering hoses because they were all leaky.
Since then, the steering gear box has gone to leaking enough for me to address it. Guessing the hoses were leaking just enough to keep pressure off the seals in the box.
Done some reading and seems to me I am either going to have to rebuild the box or buy a rebuilt one.
The rebuild route doesn't scare me but want to make sure I get the right seal kit.
Kit recommendations and/or ones to avoid.
Thanks.

Hey Heath. I had a similar problem....a slow leak in the steering gear box. I went out and bought a replacement. Before I installed it I added Blue Devil Transmission Sealer
Amazon Amazon

I figured that since the steering system is pretty much stand alone, adding a 'mechanic in a bottle' would either be successful or it would fail. In the case of failure I'd be no worse off and would just swap out the unit.

I'm happy to say it has done a very good job thus far and my fluid leak is close to zero.

Generally speaking I like to repair things properly, but there was very little downside given the specific circumstances so I gave it a shot.

I used the allmakes seal kit from lucky8 and it worked fine. I added ultra black permatex around the piston end cover, cover plate, and on the cover plate bolts. Zero leaks now. I added the permatex steps b/c my initial re-build still had small leaks in those 3 places.

I would definitely try the additive route first. Nothing to loose and it's a messy re-build.

Arrived today and I just poured some in the reservoir.
After opening it and getting a whiff of the stuff it smelled very familiar. Couldn't quite place it. Walked back to my desk all the while smelling and thinking.
Then it hit me, it smells like elmer's glue.
