Hi all,

A couple of my ps hoses are leaking, so it's time to replace them.

Question:

Has anyone here replaced only the hoses, and if so, what is the best way to do it without making a huge mess and/or getting too much air into the system?

Also, if I do get air in, how does one bleed the ps system? Bleeding brakes is pretty simple, but I haven't a clue how to do the same with ps.

A Rover expert may weigh in with something different but as far as bleeding you should lift the front wheels off of the ground and turn the steering wheel lock to lock (w/ engine off) several times. Top off the resv then start it up. Let it idle for a bit and do the same back and forth technique a couple times. Finally recheck the fluid level and you should be good. With the resv at the top of the system and the pump it is essentially a self-bleeding system. Again, this is non-Rover specific but should be quite universal. Good luck!

 

not sure whats the name of the hose with both metal ends but it was a bitch to change. i didnt bleed i thinks it rights its self

 

If you need to bleed it, you shouldnt, but if you do, ontop of the steering box is a screw, loosen it with the engine running, once no air comes out you tighten it back up.

Just a note before you pay the outrageous prices people are asking for hoses, check eBay. We got all 3 PS hoses for $61 total and they are brand new Land Rover parts not that offshore crap most folks are selling.
