That's why I said in my post above, if the dealer wants you to send them proof just try another dealer. We're talking about vehicles that these dealers don't want to be bothered with. They're not making money off DI's in the service bay. I would call service, explain that I just bought a DI, that the radio display was working but that it needed a code. I had no idea whether the radio was original so I had both the VIN and the serial number handy. Any time I called I spoke with a woman who took the info and got back to me with the code within minutes.

I do remember, many years ago, if the radio had been changed, getting the code off the serial number was a little more involved. I guess access wasn't available over the web so it would take a day or two for the dealer to get back to me with the code but they always did.

I am thinking the phone # I posted are for land rover north America in Maryland, it is not the # for this dealer

Paul I agree, and it is sad they can't seem to realize it does not help their business to act this way, don't have this problem with dodge or GM dealers

Oh the lengths we go through to keep the factory tape player and avoid buying an $80 head unit. LOL. Gotta love the weather band!

I hate the way new head units look, too complicated. The simplistic look of the factory unit is perfect.

These guys are doing some cool things.

I'm on my 2nd stock head unit. Luckily the new one had a code with it.

That write up is worth gold! If you could also find the write up explaining how to hack or disable the code feature we could start a business!

But seriously, I would love the write up on the jack, if you can find it.

I ended getting a busted radio with a code, used parts from my working no code radio to make the visited one work... yay radio, also found out only 1 speaker works. But hey, I can still hear it over my busted clutch fan.
