While the heads are out at the machine shop, soak the lifters in Marvel Mystery oil - just don't get them mixed up, or the pushrods. Also, I replaced my head bolts. They say you can use them over once, but I wouldn't. They stretch. Of course take pictures and write stuff down while you are disassembling it. I put little lines like a clock hand on the head bolts with white paint so you can tell when you've turned them 90 degrees or whatever. I also put little pieces of tape on the plug wires with numbers on them. Best of luck to you !

Tips
1) do NOT reuse head bolts.
2) buy the In Search Of The Experience DVD. It has a great walk through of the HG job. Trust me and get it. DVD orders » in search of the experience
3) consider contacting Will Tillery about your parts. He had a great deal on new bolts and gaskets and a set of remanned heads. Just have to send your old ones back.
